The live action Rurouni Kenshin will be screened in Philippines during December at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Megamall in Mandaluyong City, and North Edsa in Quezon City. It has been licensed overseas in 60 territories in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
I know there's not much of a market for that type of movie in U.S. but I would have thought that Fathom. one of the biggest companies in terms of special movie theater events would have picked this up by now.
The 45th annual Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain announced Mamoru Hosoda anime Wolf Children won the festivals best animated feature film of the year. The film is about a girl who marries a wolf man, and gives birth to two wolf children (one a girl, one a boy). After the death of the wolf man she decides to move out of the city and into a rural town. This isn't the first of Hosoda's film to win the award at Sitges. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) and Summer Wars (2009).
It's always good to hear an anime win some type of award. It make's it easier to make a case for anime on why I love it so much. I will be catching this when it come's to North America.
