The top selling manga for the month of September in North America was Sailor Moon on Neilsen Bookscan Top 20. Naruto was also in the top 20 right behind Sailor Moon. What's more fascinating is that it beat the previous number one graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns," went down to number 7. It also beat out an Avengers book as well.
Nice! If you told me that a re-release of 20 year old magical girl series would be on top, in North America of all places. Beating out an Avengers book, and Batman novel, I am really impressed. Showing once again that if managed right an anime can live on forever as long our Superman's and Batman's.
Speaking of a re-release......
Viz is reissuing the Inuyasha series on DVD in November. They plan on releasing to two sets; a standard, and a deluxe edition. The first set will hold 27 episodes on 5 disc and will be priced at $24.95 (compared to its 2009 counterpart price of $49.95).
Cash grab? Maybe. It seems weird to re-release the series. I could understand if they wanted to put it on a Blu-Ray and then release it, but just in DVD format. Suspicious! The low price suggest otherwise.
