Saban lands new Digimon Season

Saban Brands confirmed that they have acquired the new Digimon season and will work with MarVista Entertainment to distribute the series outside of Asia, while Toei Animation will handle all of the licensing and distribution inside of Asia.  The series will debut at the MIPCOM in Cannes, France in front potential broadcasters and distributors. The show "Digimon Fusion" or "Digimon Xros Wars" in Japan will be the 6th Digimon season to broadcast in North America  

It seems like a good idea to bring Digimon back to North America because there still older fans who want to see a new season. There are some concerns and are essential if this show wants to succeed in North America. These include; (1) Who will be the broadcaster and will  it be available to a bigger audience since Digimon Data Squad could only be found on Toon Disney which is a digital cable channel that everyone does not have access to, (2) Is there enough steam left in Digimon to pull out another season in North America because it would seem Poke'Mon and Yugioh have won the war as far as collectible(s) animes are concerned., and (3) Is there anyone really asking for it. 

No, Maybe. We'll see when it comes towards the West.

Crunchy Roll on a Roll!

About two weeks ago CrunchyRoll the anime and Asian drama streaming website announced that they have over 100 thousand subscribers on its paid premium plan. The plan allows the users to view anime and Asian dramas commercial free, HD quality, and streams the show an hour after it airs on TV in Japan. This is offered on all devices including android tablets, iPhones/iPads, and the PS3. 

It seems after getting a 4 million dollar investment from Venrock, a venture capitalist group, CrunchyRoll turned into legit legal video streaming site and it seems to be paying off. I didn't understand why many anime/tv sites were commenting on this, especially considering other streamers such as Netflix and Hulu plus have over a million subscribers. I thought on it, then it hit me like a Kamehameha wave (hey it's anime site I can use that analogy) this is proof that there are people in the western world who are willing to pay for foreign entertainment. This is a huge lift to the anime community, it shows we have power or at least getting some. This is also set's up a great example that many other streaming sites can and should adopt. (*cough* Hulu *cough*)

No Sub's for Persona 4

This is not a new story, but it brings up a good issue.

Sentai Filmworks a North American anime licencor was going to release the Blu-Ray to the Persona 4 animated series with both English dubs and Japanese subs, however due to Japanese licencor request the subs were pulled. This caused Sentai Filmworks to reprice the Blu-Ray to $59.99 ten dollars down the original price.  (original price $69.99).

I can watch both the subs and the dubs depending on the anime itself, the situation, where its located, and how much racial ambiguity is there, but people want a choice. Fans will get their hands on the Persona 4 whether it be importing from the UK or using torrents. It's just disappointing to see this happen, period. Not only might this hurt the sales but it also may hurt whatever momentum they had with the release of the video game.

An introduction is in order

Best Drawing of noodles ever!

I'm Q.J. Jackson, you can me Q.J. or Jackson which ever you prefer. I wanted to introduce myself and my new site in this post before I start posting like crazy. If you been following me which some of you may have, you would know that there were at least 6 sites before this one came to fruition and many writers (so many writers) through the years. I plan on making this my final one, no more changing the name this is it! (I hope).

So, why an anime site? Uhh............ I like anime (and manga) and many things in Asian culture. Animation in general has always fascinated me, I would love to work in that field but alas I'm not the best artist (right now), but that hasn't really stop me from loving cartoons. What pulled me into anime was how the medium was used for serious story telling unlike in america where most of is just used for telling jokes or to sell toys. Not saying that all american cartoons have humorous tones just a majority of them. Having a cartoon that's not for kids and wasn't a comedy, finally someone answered my prayers.

There was also the types of stories they told as well. They were different, they were out-there, they were original (at least in my eyes). There were no limits in premise they went as far as they can see and more. There is also a feel of nostalgia (just a little) when I'm watching anime. It brings me back to that feeling when I was kid/teen watching Dragon Ball Z, Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo,  Cowboy Bebop, and Inu-Yasha. Hearing some of the original theme songs was to those shows was epic for me.
